Sentiero Attrezzato Bozzetti

Overview

The Sentiero Attrezzato Bozzetti is an introductory route to the world of via ferratas, perfect for first-timers. It winds its way up Monte Zeledria, above Madonna di Campiglio, set in an exceptionally beautiful landscape that rewards the effort with breathtaking views of the Dolomiti di Brenta.

Approach

The route starts at Cascina Zeledria, reachable from Madonna di Campiglio heading toward Folgarida. After passing the Passo Campo Carlo Magno (1682 m), turn onto Via Zeledria, a climbing road that ends at the mountain hut. The itinerary described is a long loop that takes in several lake basins before the final ascent to Monte Zeledria (2427 m). From the parking lot, take trail CAI 265, which climbs at a steady but manageable grade to Rifugio Viviani, overlooking the shores of the picturesque Lago di Pradalago (reachable in about 40 minutes). Continuing on CAI 265, the trail skirts the northern flank of Monte Zeledria on a gentle slope to Lago delle Malghette and its rifugio (1890 m), after about 1 hour and 30 minutes total. Following the northern shore of the lake, take first CAI 201 and then CAI 267 toward the Tre Laghi. The terrain, initially wooded, gradually opens up into a more alpine landscape, passing Lago Alto and then the Tre Laghi (2282 m), where you can see Lago Medio and Lago Inferiore. This hiking section, with no technical difficulty, takes about 1 hour from Lago delle Malghette, for a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The route continues along a ridge section, ignoring the turnoff for Lago Scuro. The start of the Sentiero Attrezzato Bozzetti, marked by a metal sign, is reached after about 2 hours and 45 minutes total from the start.

Via Ferrata

From the sign, proceed a few minutes south until you spot a broad scree slope on the left and a fork to the right for trail CAI 226/B (to Lago di Seredoli). Keeping right, begin climbing the ridge that connects Monte Zeledria to Monte Nambino, tackling about 150 meters of elevation gain. This ascent section, with a brisk pace, can be physically demanding; the climbing is aided by several steel cables and a ladder. Nearing the summit, recognizable by the characteristic Italian flag, you are rewarded with a magnificent panorama of the Dolomiti di Brenta and the lakes below. After a break, the descent begins on the eastern side of the via ferrata. Here, several protected sections follow one after another, with ladders and steel cables essential for overcoming the steep southern ridge that plunges toward Lago di Nambino, about 500 meters below. Once the protected sections end, a classic red sign marks the finish for those climbing up. Continue to the right, descending without particular difficulty over easy rock slabs to Lago di Pradalago, where the Sentiero Attrezzato Bozzetti is considered complete. The via ferrata takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the start, for a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes.

Descent

From Lago di Pradalago, retrace the approach trail downhill back to the parking lot at Cascina Zeledria. This final stretch takes about 30 minutes, bringing the total hike time to about 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Useful Notes

This via ferrata presents no particular technical difficulties and is an ideal choice for introducing beginners to the sport. The loop itinerary offers great scenic interest. The few exposed sections are well protected by the fixed equipment. For maps, refer to the Adamello & Presanella map.
